Don Rudolph

Started playing Dartball in 1978 at the age of 33 in Hamburg, Wisconsin in the Mid-state Dartball League. Don played in many leagues over nearly 40 years of playing Dartball, including the Mixed Couples League, the Wausau Church League, and Zondlo's Dartball League. Don won more than 25 league championships in the Mid-State Dartball League while shooting for Westfall's and Landmark Bar 1. His highest average was .555 in 1984 in that league. He had 28 seasons over .500 and another 10 seasons over .450. He sponsored the Don’s Trucking team for 4 years at state, with their best finish of 3rd Place Consolation in 1984. He won class B state championships with Barley Pop Pub in 1993 & 94, and with Landmark Bar 1 in 2016. He made a lasting impact on Wisconsin Dartball through consistent competitive performance, championship success, and unwavering commitment to league play. His team-first approach exemplified the values of Wisconsin Dartball. He was endorsed by many family members, some are here to accept the award on Don’s behalf.

 

Ronald Wiedeman

Started playing Dartball in 1962 in Rhinelander at age 21, where he continues to play. He has been a team captain in two different leagues since 1970 through the current season. He has been the President of the Wednesday night league for 30+ years, and the Tuesday night league for 20+ years. He created a local state mens tournament team in 1975 and was captain of the team for 40+ years, with a best finish in the consolation bracket of the C division. Ron assisted in getting a local womens state tournament team organized in 1979 and they are still going each year, including winning two womens state championships. Played in the Rhinelander Tuesday League and Wednesday night couples leagues. He had multiple years with a season average over .500 with a high of .525 in 1995. He organized home and away matches against teams from Merril, WI. He Created tournament teams that traveled to Hamburg, Wausau, Merrill, and Eagle River. He also worked with Sam Holmes to get darts and boards every year to the Northwoods.

 

Steve Pleier

From West Allis, Wisconsin. Steve was one of the originators, pioneers, and founding members of the game of Dartball in Wisconsin. He was a member of the Wisconsin State Dartball Committee from 1951 to mid to late 1970s. Personal accomplishments, stats, or awards, were difficult to track down, but Steve was playing since the games inception in Wisconsin in the late 20s early 30s. He batted .548 in 1945, which is his highest known average. He played in the Catholic Blue and Gold League, which is one of the oldest leagues in Wisconsin. He would also hold games, small tournaments, or league play at the Pabst Brewery where he worked. Alongside his friends, Joe Hutsteiner Jr and Ernie Dorow, the boys of West Allis, Wisconsin helped regulate and cultivate the game of Dartball as we know today. He was a contributor to the design and shape of the stands used for the boards made back then by HOLMS MFG. CO. out of Ripon, WI. Steve passed away on January 28th, 1993 at the age of 85. Ryan May will accept the award on his great Grandfather’s behalf.

 

Todd Halverson

Started playing Dartball at 19 years old in 1982 in the Waukesha-Kettle Moraine Church Dartball League, has played in the Country Dartball League since 2011, and has played in the Rural Dartball League since 2021. In the Waukesha/Kettle Moraine Church League Todd has managed a team for many years, been a member of the league board, as well as holding various titles in the league over the years. In the Country Dartball League he serves as the Assistant Commissioner, and has served as the interim league commissioner. Todd has played in many state tournaments since 1998, with top 4 finishes in the state 4 man and 9 player tournaments in the B division. Todd has been a member of the state committee since 2003, ran the state 9 player tournament in Milwaukee in 2015, and has run state 4 man tournaments in Richfield several times. He has also run many tournaments in the Waukesha and Washington County areas, as well as assisting in the set up of other tournaments in that area. His highest league average was .510 and is a lifetime .425 shooter. Additionally, he has acted as a resource for local leagues in Waukesha and Washington County for information, darts, Dartball boards, stands and lights.

 

Wayne Kroll

Wayne started playing Dartball at age 14 in 1955 in the Wauzaukee Lutheran Dartball League with his Father. He played in that league for 62 years. He was also the league secretary for 10 years in that league. In addition, he played in the Northside Lutheran League for 10 years and the Milwaukee Senior League for 5 years before retiring from playing in 2017. He won many league championships in the Wauzaukee and Northside Lutheran leagues. He was the league batting champion for 8 straight years in the 1970’s with a cumulative average of .569 over that span. In 1972 he hit his highest average of .605 in the Wauzaukee League. He always hit over .400 in his 62 year Dartball career. His son David Kroll is here to accept the award for his Father.
